CRITICIZE AND EXPOSE ANTIGAY BIGOTS OF ALL KINDS

This Friday we are told that we can expect a visit from that hellish congregation from Topeka, the Fred Phelps extended family and relilgious cult. They are coming to Shawnee Mission North with the explicit purpose of conveying a message of hate. They call themselves the Westboro Baptist Church, a fine example of the evil of religious PATRIARCHY. An extended family of lawyers who, while dominated by a physically and psychologically abusive father and grandfather, intrude upon peaceful communities in order to promote the destruction people who don't agree with Daddy Fred Phelp's abuses and sexual preferences.

Of course, some have insisted that the burning obsession of Fred Phelps with gays is the consequence of him being a raging closet queen who really believes it is evil to be that way. They say it is only by striking out against others that he can control his urges. I don't know about that. Highly speculative.

Then there is the view that Phelps has to keep the extended family busy with the purportedly divine mission of spreading their message of god's alleged hate for gays to five hundred cities in order to keep the family under his personal and sexual control! Who knows?

Yet one thing is not speculative and those are the ideas that Fred Phelps clearly tells us motivate his endless campaign of anti-gay hatred in the service of PATRIARCHY, especially his own. So I suggest we criticize his ideas, his facts and his arguments which are found in abundance on the internet. Of course we are also criticizing and struggling to overthrow the mental slavery that thousands of years of PATRIARCHY have imposed on our minds.

Daddy Phelps is a fine example of why patriarchy must be abolished. Daddy Phelps would be a harmless old nut case if he didn't have a cult of brainwashed children and grand children who see him as similar to the Biblical figure Lot. Why do they think that? He told them to think it!

Of course the American Presidency has been quite patriarchal with not even a single woman having served in that office. Catholics still won't let women be priests so patriarchal domination goes way beyond this particularly open and vulgar cult.

As with other cults like “The Family” in Washington DC, some crackpot patriarch establishes great influence because his gibberish is valued as a divine revelation. Men like Phelps and the Pope tell that god wants only them to rule. We wouldn't even know that Mr. Phelps hates gays with the passion of a Grand Inquisitor if his daughters and sons and grandchildren were sitting at his feet believing that his words are somehow blessed by a divine Patriarch in the sky. His religious cult is patriarchal both in the sense that it is based on Fred Phelp's semen and his aggressive psychological domination. So while we can look at his extended family as victims of his patriarchal domination they are still collaborators in Fred Phelp's campaign to make being gay a crime punishable by death. Ask them!

In a very real sense this family of open haters represents the way most of PATRIARCHAL America was like in the last century. PATRIARCHAL America has changed some but beyond the obvious nut cases like Phelps and his family are more mainstream, hidden and polite, but still hateful and patriarchal politicians like Republicans Sam Brownback and Todd Tiahrt, who both reportedly support Phelps and his persecutions of gays. Tiahrt and Brownback are also cadre of the semiclandestine religious cult in Washington D. C. exposed by Jeff Sharlett in his book, “The Family The Secret Cult at the Heart of American Power”. They often discuss among themselves the goal of executing queer people when they finally dominate America with their version of Patriarchal Christianity. Read Sharlett's book, you will be shocked beyond awe

at the way Christian fanatics are trying to convert the United States into a straight up police state, all in the name of god of course.

Remember the so-called marriage amendment that the Republicans and Religious Right imposed on Kansas a few years back. The passage of that amendment is proof that while Phelps and his family are among the few to openly reveal their lunatic hatred of gays and anyone not subservient to fat old white men, that perhaps a majority of Kansas Republicans are haters hiding in the wings, ready to support anti-gay policies and to impose them on all society.

Yes, most Kansans were anti-gay and hateful enough to prohibit gay marriage. They say it was “godly” to do so. Why do the most hateful and oppressive humans in the United States use the word “godly” constantly?

Republicans like Phelps, Brownback and Tiahrt are social fascists. They believe they are messengers of a god they claim to talk to every day. This god also talks back to them and tells them how to execute gays, if only His divine laws can be enacted. For many of these people a big daddy god also tells them how to brush their teeth. (I don't know how many millions Americans imagine they are having a two way conversation with god as I write.) I am not kidding you. These people sound certifiable yet they, or politicians a lot like them, are running and ruining Kansas and the nation. It seems that fanatical and frankly psychotic religion is is a bigger problem in the United States than drug abuse since it is the frankly psychotic religious folks trying to manage the nation, the economy and a complex world while drug abusers rot in jail.

It is way past the time to note that religious and frankly delusional thinking has ruined this country and driven it into a downward spiral. Far right Protestants, evangelicals, assorted cults and conservative Catholics have cackled about gays, blacks and the so called social issues for forty years while empowering politicians that have sold America down the drain! Patriarchal and racist religious rhetoric has been promoted while ruinous economic, military and political policies genuinely screwed up the United States, courtesy of right wing religion, anti-gay crusaders and and cowardly legions of “godly” middle class worshipers of exclusively male authority.

At the end of the day the conservatives are worthless. They misled America by promoting romantic conservative causes that did nothing more than preserve those in power who were in power. The conservatives pandered to the public with pie in the sky promises of paradise after death and a delusional social program to turn back the clock of social and economic change or at least make it stop. Everything they led failed, especially the economy. Where are the jobs, where are the jobs you may ask? Ask the Christian conservatives. Christian conservatives dominated politics and society for forty years. Where are the jobs? Where is the economy? Ask the conservatives, they set this all up!

Anti-gay bigotry has no place at Shawnee Mission North High School and I am certain that the youth of America are progressive and democratic enough to see that an offense against a gay or lesbian student is an offense against all students and an offense against the progressive democratic revolution. It's time to overthrow the old order and that includes the patriarchal crap of Fred Phelps, his cult and mainstream conservatism of all kinds. We are all citizens and have a right to citizenship. We don't need no big daddy pushing us around? OK, Fred? OK, Todd? OK, Sam?

It is time to criticize for hours and days the crimes and would be crimes of

big daddy Phelps and all his allies, open allies and hidden allies. Let us be highly resolved to struggle against these social fascists, expose their hate and their role in a system of patriarchal oppression and to defeat them in the field of public opinion.
